Types of Chats

Project-Level Chats

Communicate with your entire project team in a shared channel. Perfect for:

Case-Level Chats

Have focused conversations within a specific case. Ideal for:

  • Quick decisions
  • Activity updates

Individual Chats

Direct messages with team members for:

Context-Aware Chats

Chats automatically include context:

:::note Case Chat Context When opened inside a case, the chat channel is automatically named after the case ID (e.g., Case-TOU-IVO-2604-13008) and includes all assigned team members. The case title, status, and priority are visible as context. :::

:::note Project Chat Context When opened inside a project, the chat channel uses the project name (e.g., ivoyant-project) and includes all project team members, with the project name and active workflow status shown. :::

  • Use project chats for team-wide announcements
  • @mention team members only when urgent
  • Pin important decisions for easy reference
  • Search chat history before asking repeated questions
  • Use threads to keep conversations organized

Notifications

Control how you receive chat notifications:

  • All messages — See everything
  • Mentions only — See when someone mentions you
  • Muted — No notifications (can still read)

You can customize notifications per chat or globally in Settings.

Privacy and Audit

All messages are logged with timestamps, attributed to users, and stored per your organization's data retention policy. Edits and deletions are tracked and available in audit logs.
